The journal invites contributions in various branches of mathematics and emphasizes a lucid style that will attract readers from diverse backgrounds. A general rule is that at least the first one third of the article should be readily understood by a general audience. It informs and entertains a wide audience of undergraduates and the wider learned community.

The Sutra welcomes expository articles on all kinds of mathematics and interdisciplinary trends, and articles that reveal the variety of mathematical communities and mathematical thought.
The articles can be of various types such as individual general articles, series made up of several parts; state-of-the-art surveys; classroom notes; research news; new book reviews; and Information and Announcements useful to students and teachers.

Articles on topics in the mathematics curriculum, especially those which students often find difficult to understand, new classroom experiments, emerging techniques and ideas and innovative methods for teaching specific concepts are particularly welcome.

Originality

Prospective authors should note that only original and previously unpublished manuscripts will be considered. Furthermore, simultaneous submissions are not acceptable. Submission of a manuscript is interpreted as a statement of certification that no part of the manuscript is copyrighted by any other publication nor is under review by any other formal publication. It is the primary responsibility of the author to obtain proper permission for the use of any copyrighted materials in the manuscript, prior to the submission of the manuscript to Sutra.

Sutra welcomes submissions from within and without the international mathematical community. Articles may feature new results, surveys of recent work in a particular field, profiles of mathematicians past or present, historical notes and so on...
