Proposal for Technical Sponsorship of TMRF to Organize Event at Your Campus

TMRF organizes various research and training activities essentially in all areas of applicable mathematics and computer science. Topics are not restricted to theory and the activities are selected on the basis of scientific novelty, the impact on the international community with special emphasis on bringing together scientists from all over the world, basic training for younger scientists, and hands-on training for computer-intensive subjects. Proposed activities typically organized at your campus with your own funding and only modest technical support will be provided by TMRF. For consideration, they should be open to participants from developing countries on a low-free basis, and should otherwise be relevant to TMRF’s mission.

In this case, TMRF will organize technical program, invite keynote speakers, review submitted papers, prepare proceedings; whereas your organization (host) should manage local organization and hospitality. Typically, TMRF charges registration fee for the technical matters and host institution takes accommodation and local expenses fees from participants.

Proposals are invited from the Indian and other developing countries’ scientific community (universities/colleges/societies) for any of the following types of activities:

  • Conferences: These activities last for a 2-5 days and consist of presentations of recent results on timely and exciting subjects. A typical Conference may consist of three one-hour keynote lectures that include a broader introduction for non-experts, and by up to four shorter specialized lectures.
  • Schools/Workshops/Compact Courses: These events normally cover important topics with lectures at an expository level, and may include exercise sessions, discussion groups and computer laboratory sessions. The lectures are intended to be self-contained, requiring a general background of the subject, and addressing a young and relatively inexperienced audience. Typical duration of a school is 1-3 weeks, with three lectures and 1 lab session per day.

The proposals should include the following information (preferably in the format shown):

  • Type of Proposal (e.g., Co-sponsored Conference, Workshop)
  • Title of the proposal
  • Author of the proposal, including a curriculum vitae
  • Possible local organizers
  • Description of the topics to be covered and reasons for their special interest
  • Expected number of participants
  • Duration of the meeting and three choices of preferred dates (Typically, proposals are made a year and a half or two before the date of the proposed event)
  • Preferred venue
  • Facilities available at venue ( e.g., hall, small rooms for sessions, etc)
  • Relevance to scientists in developing countries
  • Details of financial support from the host (your institution) and any other sources. (Documentary proof may be required for such sponsorships)

The proposal along with your institution information booklet should be submitted via email to the Chairman  and also send an original copy by post to TMRF Office.  Once proposal is accepted by the TMRF, both the institutions have to sign a formal agreement.

Interested institutions may contact Prof. R. Akerkar for further details.
